Biographies

Coralie Vincent
Coralie is a Registered Dietitian and PhD candidate in the Population Health doctoral program of the Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa. She previously graduated from the Honours Bachelor in Nutrition Sciences and entered the Master of Science in Human Kinetics before fast-tracking to the PhD. Her main research interests are eating behaviours, disordered eating, women's health, menopause, as well as the relationships between mental health and eating behaviours.
Coralie est diététiste et candidate au doctorat dans le programme de Santé des populations de l'École interdisciplinaire des sciences de la santé à l'Université d'Ottawa. Elle a obtenu un baccalauréat spécialisé en sciences de la nutrition et s'est inscrite au programme de maîtrise en sciences de l'activité physique avant de aire un passage accéléré au doctorat. Ses principaux domaines de recherche sont les comportements alimentaires, les troubles de l'alimentation, la santé des femmes, la ménopause, ainsi que les relations entre la santé mentale et les comportements alimentaires.

Joie Shaw
Joie Shaw is a Registered Dietitian currently pursuing her MSc in Nutrition and Food Biosciences. Her love for food and culture inspired her career in dietetics, a passion that continues to feed into her work. Her master’s thesis, supervised by Dr. Isabelle Giroux, focuses on Food Literacy within a Canadian university population. A cooking workshop intervention was designed and delivered to a diverse student body with the aim of increasing nutrition knowledge and food skills. Additionally, Joie has worked alongside various interdisciplinary research teams to contribute to in-person and online educational resources for health science students and health care professionals. Recently, Joie assumed the role of co-chair of the Canadian Black Registered Dietitians Association. She hopes to continue empowering diverse communities through innovative nutrition education and research.

Victoria Lanthier
Victoria Lanthier is a Canadian Armed Forces Food Services Officer, currently completing their Master of Science in Nutrition and Food Biosciences sponsored by Strategic Joint Staff J4 Food Services. They completed their Bachelor of Science in Nutrition at Acadia University in 2018. Their research is exploring the food literacy and Canadian Armed Forces recruits and Basic Military Training instructors, and how instructors may play a role in shaping the recruits' food literacy and eating habits.

Karissa Jeha
My name is Karissa Jeha, and I hold an Honors Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition Sciences from the University of Ottawa. I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Nutrition, with research focusing on how culinary camps can enhance children's food literacy—combining my passion for making food knowledge accessible with my love for working with kids. Through my work, I aim to empower younger generations with essential health and food skills that will serve them for life.

Chiara Toscano
Chiara is a practicing Registered Dietitian with an Honour's Bachelor in Food and Nutrition Sciences from the University of Ottawa. Her interest in nutrition was sparked in early childhood, driven by personal experiences that fuelled her curiosity about the profound impact of food on health. She is currently pursuing her MSc in Food and Nutrition Biosciences. Chiara’s research interests focus on the role of micronutrients in women’s health, and she hopes to contribute to the understanding of how nutrition can enhance women’s well-being.
Chiara est une diététiste professionnelle qui détient un baccalauréat spécialisé en sciences de l'alimentation et de la nutrition de l'Université d'Ottawa. Son intérêt pour la nutrition s'est éveillé dès la petite enfance, à la suite d'expériences personnelles qui ont alimenté sa curiosité pour l'impact de la nutrition sur la santé. Elle poursuit actuellement sa maîtrise en nutrition et biosciences alimentaires. Les recherches de Chiara porteront sur le rôle des micronutriments dans la santé des femmes. Elle espère contribuer à la compréhension de la manière dont la nutrition peut améliorer le bien-être des femmes.

Naika Dubois
Naika Dubois is a PhD candidate in population health at the University of Ottawa and a registered dietitian. She holds a bachelor's degree in nutritional sciences and dietetics from McGill University and a master's degree in education with concentration for health professionals from the University of Ottawa. Her research interests include nutrition and health, mental health, women’s health, food insecurity, immigrants and minorities, social inequalities, and health services.
Naika Dubois est une étudiante au programme doctoral en santé des populations à l’Université d’Ottawa et une diététiste professionnelle. Elle détient un baccalauréat en sciences de la nutrition et diététique de l’Université McGill ainsi qu’une maîtrise en éducation avec spécialisation pour professionnels de la santé de l’Université d’Ottawa. Ses intérêts de recherche incluent la nutrition et la santé, la santé mentale, la santé des femmes, l’insécurité alimentaire, les immigrants et groupes minoritaires, les inégalités sociales, et les services de soins de santé.
